JAY TOWNSHIP – A fire caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to a truck Thursday in Jay Township, according to the Ridgway-based state police.

The Jay Township Fire Department was dispatched to the fire at approximately 11 a.m. on the Bennetts Valley Highway. The Chevrolet Silverado LT truck was “fully involved” upon firefighters’ arrival to the scene.

During the investigation, the PSP fire marshal determined the truck was having numerous electrical issues. An examination showed evidence that the fire started in the engine compartment area.

“The engine sustained major fire and heat damage,” state police said. “At this time, the investigation is classified an undetermined fire. The vehicle was a complete loss.”

State police were assisted at the scene by the Jay Township Fire Department.
