PIKE TOWNSHIP – The human remains found late last week in a wooded area off Walker Road in Pike Township have been officially identified as that of Chase Anderson, 19, of Curwensville, says Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris.

Forensic dentist Dr. Charles Beall released his positive identification to Morris on Thursday.

No further information is available at this time, as Anderson’s death remains under investigation by Clearfield-based state police who are being assisted by a forensics team, Morris said.

According to previously published GANT News reports, Anderson had been missing since Aug. 11. Human remains were found last Wednesday and state police launched a homicide investigation.

Authorities believe it was an isolated crime and that there isn’t any threat to the general public.  Several suspects have been taken into police custody.

The investigation is being handled by the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Curwensville Borough police and PSP, Troop C, investigators.

Investigators are being assisted by the Clearfield County Coroner’s office and Dr. Dennis Dirkmaat and his forensic anthropology team from Mercyhurst College.
