Karen A. Ferut, 66, of DuBois died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh due to complications from open heart surgery.

Born May 23 1951 in St. Mary’s, she was the daughter of Robert and Maryann (Minard) Park.  Her father preceded her in death, and her mother survives and lives in DuBois. 

On Aug. 19, 1989, she married her best friend, Daniel Ferut.  He survives.

She was a 1969 graduate of the Cameron County High School. She was also a graduate of the Jeff Tech licensed practical nursing program and of St. Vincent School of Nursing registered nurse program.

She was employed at Penn Highlands Hospital as supervisor of the Med-Surge floor for more than 30 years. She most recently was the supervisor of Penn Highlands GI Lab. Her nursing career spanned 40 years, and she loved interacting and caring for her patients.

She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and she enjoyed going to the casino.  She loved to bake, enjoyed her home and her friends, sitting on her back porch and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Bristol.

She is survived by two sons, Matthew Ferut and his wife, Kimmy and Ryan Ferut and his wife, Kelly, both of DuBois; a sister, Peggy Shannon and her husband, Daniel of Cheyenne, Wyo.; twin brothers, Harry Park and his wife, Joann and Martin Park and his wife, Debbie, both of Elizabethtown, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Bristol Ferut.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A scriptural wake service will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as the celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
