The State College Spikes saw an early lead go by the boards as the Vermont Lake Monsters took a 9-4 decision on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Despite the loss, the Spikes stayed within two games of West Virginia in the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division race, and sit just one game behind new Wild Card leader Aberdeen.
