Major League Baseball Advanced Media announced on Monday that State College Spikes third baseman Evan Mendoza has been named the New York-Penn League’s Player of the Week for the week of July 31-August 6, marking the second consecutive week he has garnered the weekly honor. Mendoza earned the award again after recording a .481 average with a 13-for-27 performance at the plate for the previous seven days. The Sarasota, FL native also hit two home runs and drove in six runs, with five multi-hit performances over the course of the week. Mendoza now has eight games with three hits or more in his first professional, and 18 with multiple hits.
