CLEARFIELD – All charges were held to court against an Osceola Mills man, who has been accused of assault, following his preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Mark James Hackett, 29, has been charged by the Clearfield-based state police with simple assault, M2; two counts of criminal mischief, M3; and four counts of harassment, S. Bail has been set at $50,000.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 23, a trooper was dispatched at approximately 5:11 p.m. to Lingle Street. A man, later identified as Hackett, had allegedly kicked out the driver’s side, rear window of a vehicle and assaulted a man.
Upon arrival to the scene, the trooper observed the broken window and medical personnel were treating the victim for a laceration. A 2-year-old boy was also being attended to due to the concern of broken glass being in his eyes.
Two women – the driver and front seat passenger – were not injured but felt they had been harassed by Hackett. Hackett had fled the scene on foot and was found exiting the Minit Mart approximately two blocks from the scene.
Hackett was taken into custody and to the state police barracks for processing. While being escorted to a patrol unit for transport to the jail, Hackett purposely struck his head off the wall in the hallway, causing damage to the wall.
Hackett was subsequently transported to the county jail.
