Special Electronics and Household Hazardous Waste Collection to be held Aug. 26

CLEARFIELD – Another one-day electronics recycling and household hazardous waste special collection event will be held for Clearfield County residents.

The event is being held courtesy of the county’s Solid Waste Authority to help residents properly dispose of large electronic items, such as older televisions and computer monitors, due to the ongoing electronics legislation issue.

The event will be held Aug. 26 at the Clearfield County Jail. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-866-815-0016 or visiting online at www.ecsr.net and selecting the “collection events” tab at the top of the page.

The cost for televisions, monitors, computer towers and peripherals will be 55 cents per pound; all other electronic waste will be 35 cents per pound.

The cost for mercury-containing devices will be $6.35 per pound. It will be 75 cents per pound for household hazardous waste and $1.47 per pound for universal waste, such as fluorescent bulbs and batteries.

Payment will be due upon delivery, and credit cards will be accepted at the event, according to CCSWA Director Jodi Brennan.
