Evan Mendoza finished a home run shy of the cycle, and the State College Spikes brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ 13-hit attack was too much to overcome as the Spikes took a 5-1 defeat on Monday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
