Nominations Sought for Clearfield County Fair 4-H, FFA Royalty Contest

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County 4-H Teen Council is seeking nominations for its annual 4-H and FFA Royalty Contest. The contest is open to current 4-H and FFA members and alumni.

The contest serves three primary objectives: to increase awareness of the 4-H and FFA programs, to recognize current and past 4-H and FFA members for their involvement and dedication to the programs and to raise money for the programs.

A nomination form can be found on page 110 of the 157th Clearfield County Fair Premium Book. Premium Books are available online.

Divisions include the following: ages 8-14 years (4-H members), ages 15-21 years (4-H and FFA members, with this category also including 4-H alumni ages 19-21 years), ages 22-35 years (4-H and FFA alumni) and ages 36 years and older (4-H and FFA alumni).

Please note, the council will only open the contest age divisions that receive three or more nominations. If it does not meet that minimum, the nomination fee will be returned to the person making the nomination.

You can self-nominate or nominate someone you feel made a positive impact in the 4-H or FFA program.

Completed nomination forms, along with a recent photo of the nominee and a $2 nomination fee are due to Penn State Extension in Clearfield County, 6395 Clearfield-Woodland, Hwy., Suite 1, Clearfield, PA 16830 no later than July 21. Forms and photos can be sent electronically to Teresa Berlin at tberlin@zitomedia.net.

Fairgoers will have the opportunity to look at photos and read bios for each nominee and vote in a locked box using spare change. Voting will be set-up in the Grange & Agricultural Building during fair week.

All winners will be announced during the Clearfield County 4-H and FFA Junior Livestock and Poultry Sale on the morning of Aug. 5. All age category winners will receive awards.

4-H is a youth development program of Penn State University for youth ages 8 to 18 years old, as of Jan. 1.
