Barbara E. Peters, 91, of Philipsburg and a former resident of the Dayspring Personal Care Home, RD Morrisdale, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.

Born April 23, 1926, in New Britain, Conn., she was a daughter of H.A. and Alma (Andersen) Christopher, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Pottstown High School, Pottstown.

She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, (Hudson) RD Philipsburg. Her father, H.A. Christopher, was the founding pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God in Hudson.

His devotion to the church carried over to her. She was very active in church functions and participated in every aspect of the church life.

She was employed as a bookkeeper throughout her working career for a few Philipsburg businesses that included Charles Navasky & Co., the Admissions Department of the former Philipsburg State General Hospital and the former Cowdrick’s Pharmacy.

She was married Aug. 30, 1947, in Philipsburg to William M. Peters, who preceded her in death April 27, 2016.  

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Danielle Marie Pellow and two sisters, Gertrude Pedersen and Marjorie Christopher.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Pellow and her husband, Daniel of California and Osceola Mills and Deborah J. Humphrey and her husband, Charles and Christine Wilson and her husband, Greg, both of Philipsburg; a son, Gregory W. Peters and his wife, Donna of Burlington, NC; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, (Hudson) Philipsburg, with the Rev. Daniel B. Winters officiating.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of services at the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.
