Laurie A. Ferut, 61, of DuBois died Friday, June 9, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born July 19, 1955, she was the daughter of the later Robert and Elsie (Krach) Salada.
On Dec. 26, 2016, she married Dennis D. Ferut. He survives.
She retired as a paraprofessional from the DuBois Area School District after 28 years of service. She had worked her last 16 years in emotional support at the DuBois Middle School, where she was the site coordinator in the Project Success Program.
She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed working during the holiday season at Maurice’s.
She loved her cats, Sunny and Angel. She also enjoyed shopping, floating in her pool and spoiling her grandkids.
She is survived by two children, Cheri McConnell and her husband, Joseph of DuBois and Kelly Whiting and her husband, Shawn of Saxonburg and four step-children, Brandon Ferut and his wife, Lacey, Samantha Ferut and her companion, Justin Berryman, Brodie Ferut and his companion, Alix Reis and Seth Ferut and his companion, Jenna Winebark, all of DuBois.
She is also survived by a brother, Dale Salada and his wife, Susan of Perryolopis, Pa., and eight grandchildren, Robert, Mary and Ryan McConnell, Gemma and Ella Whiting, Aries Berryman and Reagan and Russell Ferut.
There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
