State police at Punxsutawney
- State police reported on an accidental shooting that occurred May 21 at an East Main Street residence in Mahaffey. According to state police, they responded to the Punxsutawney Hospital regarding the incident, which involved two juveniles. State police say the juveniles were playing with pellet guns when one inadvertently discharged, striking a juvenile in his armpit region. The pellet was lodged beneath his skin, he was transported to the hospital and it was removed by medical staff. State police say the juvenile didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
Clearfield Borough
- Police were dispatched to a report about a parked vehicle that had its lights on for an extended period of time on West First Avenue. Upon arrival, police found it was unoccupied and parked.
- Police received a report about a dog that had broken its leash and was chasing other dogs in the area of Clearfield Street. Upon arrival, police found the owner had located the dog.
- Police responded to a report about a bat that was located inside a Woodland Road residence. Police were able to retrieve the bat and release it.
- Police responded to a reported 911 hang-up call on South Second Street. Upon arrival, police found that children were playing with the phone.
- Police are investigating an alleged theft of a firearm from a vehicle while it was parked along North Fifth Street.
- Police are investigating an alleged theft. Police say during the incident, someone used the victim’s bank account to make several purchases without their permission.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a possible wanted person at a local motel. Upon arrival, police determined they weren’t wanted and listed the incident as unfounded.
- Police received a report about a burning violation on Flegal Road.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of criminal mischief on Cambria Drive. Police say damage occurred to a tire on a vehicle.
- Police recovered a firearm that was located in a person’s vehicle.
Decatur Township
- Police received a report about a neighbor dispute on Old Route 322.
- Police received a needle after it was located by a person on Sanborn Road.
- Police received a report about a possible retail theft involving two females who were believed to be under the influence of drugs at CVS Pharmacy. Upon arrival, police located and identified both females. Police said it hasn’t been determined if anything was stolen, and the investigation is ongoing.
- Police located a suspicious vehicle on private property in the area of Coal Run Road and Sarah Street. Police identified the persons and asked them to vacate the property.
- Police took a male into custody at the Frenchtown Trailer Park after he fled from police shortly after a reported domestic incident. Police later learned it wasn’t domestic in nature. However, police transported the male to county jail due to a probation violation.
- Police received a report about animals being loose on Bucket Line Road.
- Police received a report about a lost/stolen bank card that had allegedly been fraudulently used at local businesses. It remains under investigation at this time.
Sandy Township
- On Wednesday Treasure Lake Security reported receiving a call from a resident about people in his yard. He stated that they were sitting at his picnic table, and he didn’t know them. Security contacted police when they arrived at the Basil Rock Court residence and people were acting suspiciously in the driveway. Upon arrival, police determined that there wasn’t any illegal activity, and the situation was handled without incident.
- On Thursday a 61-year-old resident reported she received a phone call, during which she was instructed to buy gift cards and provide the numbers. Police say she was promised that if she did this, they would send her money. A Wal-Mart manager stopped her when she attempted to purchase more gift cards at the caller’s request; the manager told her it was a scam.
