Perrin to Stand Trial for Allegedly Breaking into DuBois Home, Stealing Vehicle

DUBOIS – A Reynoldsville man will stand trial for allegedly breaking into a DuBois home and stealing a vehicle.

Brian Douglas Perrin, 36, was charged with F1 burglary, F3 criminal trespass, F3 theft by unlawful taking, F3 receiving stolen property and two counts of M3 theft as a result of his actions May 9.

Perrin waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday during centralized court. His bail was lowered from $50,000, monetary to $50,000, unsecured. Court records indicate he remains incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim told DuBois City police that Perrin, a long-time friend, called her asking for a ride to DuBois from his home in Reynoldsville.

She picked him up and transported him to another residence in DuBois where he gathered several tools from a co-worker to prepare for work in the morning.

Around 10 p.m., she then transported Perrin back to her home where he stayed until he became irrational and confused three hours later.

She stated that he questioned why he was at the victim’s home because he had no recollection of her driving him there. He told her that he “took a bunch of Xanax” and she needed to “get me out of here before something bad happens,” she reported.

The victim said she ordered him to leave and eventually he left her home.

Around 4:30 a.m., she heard someone pounding at her door. It was Perrin, who started yelling that he needed a ride to work. When she went to her front door, she saw that the door had been forced open, resulting in severe damage to the frame.

Perrin then gained entry to her living room through double glass doors. The victim fearing he would hurt her or her daughter ran upstairs to her daughter’s room. They were unable to locate a phone to call police.

Perrin continued yelling. The victim told him to take her vehicle because he seemed to be looking for transportation, according to the report. After Perrin left in her vehicle, she found a phone and called 911.

When the police officers left the victim’s residence, they received a call about an accident on Central Christian Drive in Sandy Township involving the victim’s vehicle. Perrin was taken into custody there.

During a search, police found the victim’s debit card in his pocket.     Perrin was taken into custody for DUI by Sandy Township police and taken to the jail.

Later the victim also reported that he had taken 14 suboxone pills that were in her purse.
