John Charles Rumsky, 91, of Clearfield and formerly of Glen Richey, fell asleep with the Lord after an extended illness at Ridgeview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on May 21, 2017.
Born Dec. 22, 1925 in Glen Richey, he was the son of Frank W. and Helen (Kusak) Rumsky.
Mr. Rumsky had done road construction with various companies; also, he had been the street commissioner for Curwensville Borough for many years. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II.
He was a lifetime member of the Curwensville American Legion Post No. 505, the Curwensville VFW Post No. 842 and the Curwensville L.O.O.M. Family Center No. 268.
He enjoyed Pittsburgh Pirate baseball and Penn State football. He was a 1943 graduate of the Clearfield High School.
Surviving are a sister, Pearl Rumsky of Glen Richey and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Kephart, Delphine Rumsky, Ann E. Rumsky and Kathryn Kuzniar; an infant sister; brothers, Joseph and Francis Rumsky; and his long-time companion, Agnes White.
There will be no public visitation.
A public funeral service for Mr. Rumsky will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Annunciation Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ramey, with Father Anthony Balistreri officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the Cemetery by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
