Glenn E. Shope Sr., 87, of Irvona died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his residence.
Born Jan. 26, 1930 in Beaver Valley, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Gates) Shope.
On Jan. 29, 1955, he married Bertha Lender in New York City. She preceded him in death in 2010.
He is a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Richard L. Beers VFW Post 7043 and the F&AM Lodge 574, both in Coalport. He was also a member of the Irvona UMC.
He will be deeply missed by his two children, Glenn E. Shope Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Fayetteville, Pa., and Brenda M. Kasubick and her husband, Dennis of Houtzdale; a grandson, Capt. Brandon F. Morroni and his wife, Laura of Fayetteville, NC; and a sister, Louise Kightlinger of Franklin, Pa.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Marlin Shope, Cloyd Shope, Irvin Shope, Cecil Shope, Zenal Shope, Helen Black and Paul Shope.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.
The Rev. Tina Hawkins will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in Utahville Cemetery. Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
