PennDOT to Repair Clearfield County Bridge on Goshen Road

Detour will be in place starting June 1

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is notifying area drivers that a bridge on Route 1006 (Goshen Road) in Clearfield County will be temporarily closed, beginning June 1.

The bridge spans Lick Run in Goshen Township, about two miles north of Clearfield.

From June 1 to June 23, crews from Clearfield County PennDOT Maintenance will be working to replace the deck of the bridge. During this work, a detour using Route 1001 and Route 879 will be in effect. PennDOT will re-open the bridge before June 23 if work progress allows.

In mid-March, PennDOT lowered the posted weight limit of the bridge to 3 tons. Once the deck replacement is complete, PennDOT will be able to improve the weight limits to the previous posting of 32 tons for single vehicles and 39 tons for combination vehicles.

The existing bridge was originally built in 1971, is 43 feet long, and carries an average of 220 vehicles daily.
