Dorothy A. (Hess) Dixon, 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Clearfield, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Mrs. Dixon was born Feb. 27, 1939 in Berwind, W.Va., a daughter of the late of John and Susie (Hilton) Hess.
She had worked in the food industry for many years, including the Dutch Pantry.
Mrs. Dixon traveled extensively with her husband throughout the United States in their RV. She was a member of the following travel trailer organizations, Coast to Coast and Thousand Adventures. She was also very active in crafts and enjoyed playing card games.
She is survived by three children, Richard A. Dixon Jr. and his companion, Judy Parsons of Clearfield, Charlotte L. Casher and her husband, Todd of St. Croix, Virgin Islands and John F. Dixon of Myrtle Beach, SC; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Scooter Baby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard A. Dixon, to whom she was married April 2, 1965 and who died Nov. 28, 2009; daughter, Cheryl L. Martin; five brothers, George, Frankie, Johnny, Jerry and Jimmy Hess; and three sisters, Pearl Boardwine, Ruth Vaughn and Ruby Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. Saturday until hour of services.
