The long-awaited Shell ethane cracker plant is expected to break ground this November or December. On June 7, 2016, Shell Chemical Appalachia LLC announced its final investment decision to build a major petrochemical complex, comprised of an ethylene cracker facility and a polyethylene derivatives unit, on a 300-acre site in Potter Township, 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
