DEP to Present Stinky Run Project Plans to Clearfield Borough

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough will be bumping up its meeting time to hear a presentation on the Stinky Run Flood Control Project.

At Thursday’s work session, the Clearfield Borough Council announced that they will be holding its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. The earlier time is necessary as the Department of Environmental Protection to give the presentation.

Stinky Run has been an issue for several years. The waterway is prone to flooding, which causes problems for residents living in the East End area of the borough.

The borough has earmarked a large portion of its Community Development Block Grant funding for the project.

According to previously published GANT News articles, DEP is planning to expand the stormwater collection system of Stinky Run to alleviate flooding problems.

The project is expected to cost about $3 million, the majority of which is to be funded by DEP. The design calls for the replacement of the current Stinky Run collection system above Woodland Road.

The plans also include all new construction, which would work in conjunction with the existing stormwater system below Woodland Road.
