Donald R. Martin, 89, of (Parsonville) Houtzdale died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital in Clearfield.
Born Aug. 16, 1927 in (Parsonville) Houtzdale, he was the son of the late Charles Martin Jr. and Verda (Kephart) Martin.
He married Pearl (Finney) Martin on April 17, 1946 in Cumberland, Md., and she survives in Clearfield.
Mr. Martin was a charter member of the Parsonville Assembly of God Church.
He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and formerly had served as president in his local. He was a retired coal miner for Associated Drilling in Osceola Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Shimmel and Evelyn Cartwright.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Diann Trotta and her husband, Michael of Vine Grove, Ky.; one son, Ronald Martin and his wife, Laurie of (Parsonville) Houtzdale; one sister, Mildred Shaw of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Bret Trotta, Kimberly Craig, Dr. Adam Trotta, Bradley Martin, Shawn Martin and Jason Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Parsonville Assembly of God Church with the Rev. W. Dean Krause officiating. Place of Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Brisbin.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
