CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township police officers will be ready for action during prom weekend.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Lawrence Township Supervisors approved a motion to allow two officers an extra 16-20 hours on May 5.
Sgt. Crystal Panebianco said the police department would be participating in another traffic detail and with the high school prom being around the same time, the extra officers would be very helpful.
Panebianco distributed the monthly report for the department. According to the report, the department had 100 criminal arrests for April, an increase from 94 arrests for April of 2016.
Officers logged 165 traffic arrests, also an increase from 43 last year. The department also logged 126 court hours, assisted other departments 43 times, served 61 warrants, 24 subpoenas, conducted 120 traffic stops and responded to 959 incidents.
Also at the meeting, the supervisors approved having an engineer from Stiffler, McGraw and Associates meet with the police department to discuss putting two level one doors on, as well as to discuss how to improve security for the entrance of the police department.
In other business, the supervisors voted to approve:
- Transferring $390,000 from the general fund to the Tax Anticipation Note fund.
- Awarding the bid to survey the compost site to Curry and Associates, the amount not to exceed $1,200.
- Advertising for bids for the Turnpike Avenue project.
- Paying the bills in the amount of $43,283.89.
