Student at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center (CCCTC) received a visit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission Conservation Officers, Mark Gritzer and Jerry Schickling, with a trapped bear.

Students in the welding and collision repair program modified the bear trap in March. The students welded a guillotine latch door to the trap with the winch system, and the students in collision did the final prep on the project by masking, priming and painting the trap.

Gritzer said he would bring a bear to the school once he trapped one. Students had the opportunity to see the process the officers go through when trapping the bear.

Students watched as they tagged, tattooed and measured the bear. This particular male bear weighed 149 pounds and was about two to three years old.

In the front are Tommy Celli, collision repair program, and Kyle Clousey, welding and metal fabrication program. In the back are Gritzer and Schickling.
