CLEARFIELD – A couple accused of selling cocaine appeared for preliminary hearings during centralized court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Todd M. Anderson, 45, of Houtzdale has been charged by the Office of Attorney General with two, felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and two, felony (third-degree) counts of criminal use of a communications facility.
He waived the charges against him to the Court of Common Pleas for further disposition. His bail was previously set at $50,000 monetary, which he has posted.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 24, 2016, an undercover agent instructed a confidential informant to contact Todd Anderson about purchasing an eight-ball of cocaine. The CI later advised the agent that Todd Anderson agreed to supply it for $280 via text message.
The CI had further conversation with Todd Anderson and arranged for the sale to occur on July 28, 2016. The CI forwarded these text messages to the agent about meeting Todd Anderson to purchase an eight-ball of cocaine at Snappy’s Convenience Store in Houtzdale.
On July 28, 2016, the CI, under the direction of the agent and drug task force officers, proceeded with arrangements to make the controlled purchase from Todd Anderson. When the CI contacted him, Todd Anderson stated he wasn’t in the area and at “the other residence” in Madera.
Todd Anderson asked the CI to meet him in the parking lot of the car wash on Hannah Street in Houtzdale. The CI agreed to the new meeting location. Upon arrival, the CI observed a white van traveling toward the car wash and identified it as Todd Anderson’s.
The agent observed the van pass their location and its African-American driver, who the CI positively identified as Anderson. When he entered the lot, Todd Anderson parked at the opposite side, and the CI exited his/her vehicle to approach him.
The agent observed the CI and Anderson from their vehicle. When the CI returned, he/she turned over a plastic bag that contained about an eighth of an ounce of cocaine that was allegedly purchased from Todd Anderson.
The agent turned the cocaine over to the Decatur Township police to field-test and secure it. It was later sent to the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Laboratory in Erie for further analysis, which confirmed it was cocaine and weighed 3.42 grams.
Catherine Renee Anderson, 34, has also been charged with two, felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; a felony count of conspiracy/manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; and a felony (third-degree) count of criminal use of a communications facility.
She had her preliminary hearing continued until 10:30 a.m. May 17 during centralized court at the jail. Her bail was previously set at $50,000 monetary, which she has posted.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Jan. 5 an agent instructed a CI to contact Todd Anderson about purchasing an eight-ball of cocaine the next day.
When the CI made the arrangements, Todd Anderson stated he/she would have to get the cocaine from his wife, Renee, since he wouldn’t be at home. The agent made arrangements with the CI to proceed with the purchase.
The next day, the agent provided the CI with $300 to purchase the cocaine from Renee Anderson. The agent and CI departed for the Anderson residence in Houtzdale and were followed by a second agent and drug task force officers.
While en route, the CI made contact with Renee Anderson by cell phone. She told the CI that she was in a hurry to pick up her child at school. The CI told her they would be at her residence within the next few minutes.
Upon arrival, the CI exited the vehicle and the agent observed Renee Anderson walking out the back door of the residence. The CI approached her and shortly after, the agent could see Renee Anderson holding money up to her face.
The agent later learned Renee Anderson was holding the money that the CI had been provided to purchase the cocaine. When the CI returned to the vehicle, he/she turned over a small zip lock bag of cocaine allegedly purchased from Renee Anderson.
The agent turned over the cocaine to the Decatur Township police to field-test and secure it. The field-test yielded a positive result for the presence of cocaine, and it was sent to the PSP Erie Crime Laboratory for further analysis.
