CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners proclaimed May as Foster Care Month at the request of Shannon Kelly, adoption and foster care program manager at the Children’s Aid Society.

Kelly said she wanted to take this opportunity to express the need for foster parents not only in Clearfield County, but also across Pennsylvania and the United States.

“These children are in a time of crisis, and they need somewhere safe to go where they will be loved and cared for … until they can be reunified with their parents or are adopted by families,” she said.

Commissioner Tony Scotto, chair, said it was an honor to have the programs of the Children’s Aid Society in the community to help support these children in need.

The commissioners encouraged community members to come forward and do something positive and life-changing for the children who have been placed in foster care.
