“Sock It To Me” Project Exceeds Goal

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc. and the Volunteer Center of Clearfield County would like to thank everyone who contributed to the “Sock It to Me” project.

Co-chairs Bobbie Sopic and Alice Pollock set a goal this year to collect 3,000 pairs of socks. Through the generosity of the community, 6,023 pairs of socks, 22 hats, 12 pairs of mittens and 10 scarves were collected.

Most of these items have already been delivered to the local charities for distribution to those in greatest need, and arrangements have been made to deliver the remaining items.

Organizations receiving the socks, hats and mittens are Marion House, The Good Samaritan Men’s Shelter, Life Line, Clearfield Sneaker Closet, West Branch Sneaker Closet and Salvation Army.

Several area businesses, churches, schools, civic clubs, senior centers, libraries and individuals helped with the donation and collection of the items. Organizers would like to give a sincere pat on the back to everyone who helped make this project a huge success.

Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc., Mature Resources Foundation and local and consumer contributions.
