Controller Tom Adamson would like to announce his candidacy for the Office of Clearfield County Controller.

He is a U.S. Air Force veteran and life-long resident of Clearfield County, having graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

As a certified public accountant licensed for 35 years, he has emphasized government accounting as one of his areas of expertise.  His professional knowledge and experience in the field can benefit the people of Clearfield County.

Adamson has served as a member of the Pennsylvania Local Government Committee, which function is to keep accounting professionals abreast of new and current government accounting activities.

He continues his involvement in government accounting, while he is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania State Association of County Controllers.

The Office of Controller is responsible for the management and administration of the fiscal affairs of Clearfield County as set forth by the County Commissioners.

The office maintains the general ledger, processes accounts payable and keeps the payroll in accordance with the approved budget.

The Controller oversees the preparation of monthly financial statements and their distribution throughout county departments in order to assist these departments with their budgetary and funding requirements.

This also supports the commissioners in their task of managing the fiscal resources of the county.  Lastly, the Controller also manages and maintains the County Retirement system.

During Adamson’s tenure, the Office of the Controller has remained one of the most efficient departments in the county.  This is largely due to initiating a sound system of checks and balances designed to prevent errors and ensure responsible reporting to the public and government agencies.

“It will be my goal as Controller to work for the interests of all the citizens of Clearfield County, and I am asking for the support of my fellow Republicans. I would also welcome write-ins from the Democratic electorate,” Adamson stated.
