Jeremy Ruffner has announced his candidacy for Lawrence Township Supervisor.

Ruffner is seeking the Republican nomination in the May primary for the seat held by William “Fritz” Lawhead since 2000.  Lawhead is not seeking re-election.

A 20-year member of the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 and presently serving as Clearfield County’s 911 Coordinator, Ruffner is dedicated to making public safety in the township his top priority.

Presently, rescue chief and secretary of the fire company, he also serves on the board of directors and teaches the fire companies fire prevention and safety programs.

As Clearfield County 911 coordinator, he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the county’s dispatch center.

“If elected, I will dedicate myself to ensuring our community’s safety, promoting a positive environment for families to live, students to learn and businesses to grow,” he stated.

Born and raised in Lawrence Township, Ruffner is also known for his DJ business and volunteer service as Master of Ceremony at the annual Clearfield County Fair parade.

If elected, Ruffner is dedicated to working with the township police department and volunteer fire companies to be sure that they are supplied with safe, modern equipment within their budget.

Ruffner’s experience as 911 coordinator and direct work with emergency responders gives him an advantage in accomplishing this.

On the issue of consolidation of Lawrence Township and Clearfield Borough, Ruffner believes this could be a possibility, but first the township must ensure that public safety is not diminished and that there will be equity for the taxpayers of both municipalities.

Ruffner believes that there are many opportunities for Lawrence Township and Clearfield Borough to work together.

“We live in a remarkable community, filled with talented and educated people. We have what it takes to make this a thriving, economically viable, sustainable environment for our families, students, seasonal residents and tourists,” he stated.

Ruffner is a life-long resident of Lawrence Township where he lives with his wife, Lisa, daughter, Addison and their two dogs, Cyren and Callie.  Those wishing to support his campaign can reach him at jeremyruffner@gmail.com.
