Susan F. McElroy, 72, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born April 1, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas. On Dec. 31, 1965, she married William V. McElroy. He survives.
She retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service after more than 25 years of service.
She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Mahjong. She was a volunteer at Hahne Cancer Center in DuBois and a member of the Ladies of the Lake.
At Arlington National Cemetery, she was an Arlington Lady, never allowing a U.S. Soldier to be buried alone. Above all, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori Fitzhugh and her husband, Tom and Jeanette Calli, all of Woodbridge, Va., and three sisters, Judy Partington and her husband, Richard of Phoenix, Ariz., Helen Embery of Kansas City, Kan., and Beth Henderson and her husband, Jack of Marble Falls, Texas.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Devin Taylor, Riley Fitzhugh and Will, Charlotte and Julia Calli.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
