Obituary Notice: Calvin R. “Grizzly” Peters

Calvin R. “Grizzly” Peters, 80, of West Decatur went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

Born Oct. 14, 1936 in Wallaceton, he was the son of the late George C. and Vera Mae Lowe Peters.

On June 3, 1961 at the former Philipsburg United Brethren Church, he married Joan L. Vail Peters, who survives at home.

He is also survived by his daughters, Nancy M. Whorton and her husband, Bill of Munson and Carol A. Walk and her husband, Dan of Mineral Springs; a son, Raymond C. Peters and his wife, Criss of West Decatur; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Peters was last of his generation. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Alanna Kanouff.

He was a truck driver throughout his career and had formerly worked for HRI Coal Industries.

Family and friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, and again from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with Pastor Matt Scott officiating. Burial will be in Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.
