Helen Lackey, 93, formerly of Fernwood and most recently a resident of Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died peacefully Sunday, March 26, 2017.
She was born in Fernwood. At the age of 15 years, she moved to New Jersey for work. She lived in both Newark and Edison until she relocated back to Fernwood in 1976-77.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Catherine (Refalsky) Jacoby; her husband, Harry Lackey; and siblings, Anna Beiter, Francine Frankovich and Joseph Jacoby.
She is survived by her only son, Robert Lackey of Toms River, NJ and five siblings, Dorothy Fiorentino of New Jersey, Stephanna Rumsky of Glen Richey, Marian Bagrosky of Osceola Mills, Louis Jacoby Sr. of Ramey and Richard Jacoby of Warren.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey.
She was known as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will forever be remembered for her loving heart and recipes. She loved to cook and bake.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Madera.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ramey.
