Obituary Notice: P. William Capatch

P. William Capatch, 101, of Madera died at Christ the King Manor on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.

He was born April 18, 1915 in Morrisdale, a son of the late James F. and Anna Marie (Cornetto) Capatch.

Mr. Capatch graduated from the former Bigler Township High School in the class of 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He attended the Penn State University and received a Ph.D. degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh.

He retired as a professor of business and accounting from Kent State University in 1985.

He was a life-long parishioner of the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Madera.

Mr. Capatch was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the former Grand View Golf Club.   He also was a life-time member of the Philipsburg B.P.O.E No. 1173.

He is survived by a nephew, James Capatch and his wife, Sheila of Clearfield as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his generation, having been preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, George and Victor and four sisters, Angeline “Bobby” Gimmel, Theresa Romano, Jennie Dean and Rose M. Capatch.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Christ The King Manor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee and Fr. Marc Solomon co-celebrating. 

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the Chapel at Christ the King Manor.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Madera.
