Margaret Ruth Wingard, 85, of Curwensville died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 5, 1931 in Pike Township, she was the daughter of Harold and Irene (McMasters) Wink.
Mrs. Wingard had been employed by Kent Sportswear and also Curwensville True Value. She also participated in the Curwensville Town Choir and the former Community Care Group of Ridgeview Health Care.
She was a member of the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and on the fellowship hall kitchen committee.
She was a Eucharistic minister and a Sacristan for the church. She also sang in the church choir and was a CCD teacher, a First Holy Communion Sponsor and a member of the church’s Relay for Life team.
In April of 1949, she was wed to Mervin Wingard, who preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are three sons, Tommy Wingard and Terry Wingard and his wife, Debra, both of Curwensville, and Toby Wingard and his wife, Brenda of Shawville.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, T.J. Wingard and his wife, Christie of DuBois, Mandy Woolevich and her husband, Brian of Millvale, Lacy Garber and her husband, Aaron of Trafford and Ashley Wingard of Shawville, and nine great-grandchildren, Anna, Trey, Emily, Daniel, Jonathon, Claire, Levi, Elijah and Orion.
In addition, she is survived by two brothers, Blair Wink and his wife, Kay of Curwensville and Charles “Chuck” Wink and his wife, JoAnn of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and again from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the procession will depart for the church.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society at 1:45 p.m. and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Friday, both at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to either St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church or St. Timothy’s Relay for Life Team at 306 Walnut St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
