Alberta B. ‘Mead’ Liegey, 87, of Woodland died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.
She was born Aug. 31, 1929 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Matthew and Edna (Wallace) Maines.
Mrs. Liegey was a housekeeper for many families in the area. She also was employed by Homemakers.
She is survived by four sons, Elmer Leigey III and his wife, Joy of Ephrata, Larry Leigey and his wife, Diana and David Leigey and his wife, Paula, both of Woodland, and Jay Leigey and his companion, Mary English of West Decatur; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evon Coudriet of Morrisdale, Phyllis Leigey of Weedville and Bernice Welker and her husband, Jim of Woodland; and a brother, Matthew Maines of Woodland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C. ‘Buddy’ Liegey Jr., on Jan. 16, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson and two sisters, Ida Evans and Bonnie Hummel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield. Burial will be in the Gillingham Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
