Ruby A. Barquist, 89, a guest at Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes and formerly of Glassflat, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at the home.
Born March 4, 1927 in Munson, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Sr. and Cecilia Havran Williams.
She wed the late Walter W. Barquist Sr., who preceded her in death May 13, 2000. They had celebrated 53 years of married life.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie L. Long and her husband, Robert H., of Grassflat; her sons, Walter W. Barquist Jr., of Lanse and Dennis L. Barquist and his wife, Nancy of Morrisdale; and her six grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her generation. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Michaels and Dorothy Krach and her brother, Frank Williams, Jr.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse.
She had a great love for her family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking with her specialty being her Swedish KA-ka bread. Neither family nor friends ever left the house without being fed.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse, with Pastor Jennifer Gonsalves and the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Burial will be in the Grassflat Lanse Lutheran Cemetery, Grassflat.
Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Thursday.
