Obituary Notice: Raymond E. “Ray” Conklin

Raymond E. “Ray” Conklin, 85, of Philipsburg died Dec. 18, 2016 at his residence.

Born May 22, 1931 in Wallaceton, he was a son of the late Frank B. and Elva Elizabeth (Knepp) Conklin.

Mr. Conklin was a member of the First Church of Christ, (Tyrone Pike) RD Philipsburg. He was an U.S. Army veteran.

He was married June 6, 1955 in Cookeville, Tenn., to the former Pauline Jackson, who preceded him in death Aug. 12, 2011.

He was the owner/operator of Ray Conklin’s Automatic Transmission Service of (Graham Station) RD Philipsburg until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Conklin was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence “Mick,” Charles “Chub,” Robert “Reed” and Howard Conklin.

He is survived by two sons, Rick L. Conklin and his wife, Lori of Bellefonte and Stanley Dale Conklin and his wife, Holly of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Joseph Conklin and his wife, Dana of Pleasant Gap, Jennifer McKenrick and her husband, Scott (Sgt., US Army) of Homer City and Lisa and Rachel Conklin, both of Philipsburg; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Gearhart of Philipsburg and Grace Ogden of Pennsylvania; one brother, Walter Conklin of West Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Fowler officiating.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
