CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week.

He identified the fugitive as Claudia Shirey, 20, of Bush Road, Rochester Mills. She is wanted for failure to appear at Sentencing Court on Dec. 6, at which time a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Aug. 15 Cpl. Orlando Prosper of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Shirey. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance, M; retail theft, M1; and receiving stolen property, M3.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 6 officers were dispatched to a local business for a report of a theft. Upon arrival officers detained one person who had fled on foot and made contact with Shirey.

At this time, Shirey was allegedly found to be in possession of stolen merchandise from the store as well as a bag. After receiving permission to search the bag, officers located several controlled substances.

Shirey told police that she did not have prescriptions for the controlled substances.

A preliminary hearing was held Sept. 16, at which time all charges were held to court. On Dec. 6 Shirey failed to appear at Sentencing Court, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shirey is described as a Caucasian female who stands 5 feet tall. She has red hair and green eyes.

Anyone with knowledge of Shirey’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
