PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards Recognized in Two Women in Business International Awards Categories

HARRISBURG – Based on PennDOT’s overall accomplishments this year, Secretary Leslie S. Richards was recently honored as Female Innovator of the Year for a Government or Non-Profit with 2,500 employees or more and Female Executive of the Year in the same category by the international Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The awards, given in New York City on Nov. 18, recognize outstanding women executives who have led their organizations to higher levels of innovation and achievement.

Nations represented at this year’s event included Argentina, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, South Africa, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“I am very grateful to the wonderful team at PennDOT whose outstanding accomplishments were recognized with this honor,” Richards said.

“Together, we are delivering transportation services with efficiency and innovation, fulfilling Governor’s Wolf’s mandate of delivering government that works.”

Among her accomplishments that factored in the judges’ decision:

“We are a team of nearly 12,000 dedicated people who are working hard to manage taxpayer resources wisely while doing our best to maintain and upgrade our very large transportation network,” Richards said. “On behalf of all of us, I welcome and am grateful for this international recognition of our accomplishments.”
