Penn State head coach James Franklin is among the five finalists for the 2016 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award as presented by the Football Writers Association of America. Franklin is the first Penn State coach to be a finalist for the award since 2012 and marks the eighth time that a Nittany Lion mentor is a finalist for the Robinson Award.
