Jack Harry Bennett, 84, a resident of the Philipsburg Towers and formerly of Port Matilda, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born March 20, 1932 in Port Matilda, he was a son of the late Harry and Sarah Ruth (Lewis) Bennett.

He faithfully attended Port Matilda United Methodist Church and enjoyed hanging out at Lykens Market in Port Matilda.  He worked for Crain Lumber Company for more than 50 years.

On Aug. 18, 1979 in Philipsburg, he married Mildred J. (Carter) Bennett, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Abby Bennett and her significant other, Lee Gunter of Munson; three step-daughters, Linda Rodger and her husband, Michael of Chester Hill, Joanie English and her husband, Barry of Allport and Rebecca Hubler and her husband, Alvin of Munson; two grandchildren, Alonna Gunter and her husband, Dustin and Jordan Gunter; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Alivia Gunter; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and his two best friends, Bobbie Jo Dixon Hughes and his cat, Blackie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Charles and two sisters, Helen Wighaman and Mary Peters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lanse Evangelical Free Methodist Church, 255 Cotohisc Rd., Lanse, with Pastor Sam Reese officiating. Burial will be at the Port Matilda Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home and from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
