Fire Destroys Two Homes in Mahaffey

MAHAFFEY – The investigation is ongoing into the fire that destroyed two Mahaffey homes during the early-morning hours Saturday at 215 W. Main St., according to the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal.

The fire originated in a 24’ by 32’, two-story, abandoned, wooden-framed home. It spread to an adjacent 28’ by 52’, two-story, vacant home. “Both homes were completely destroyed,” the report said.

“There were no injuries, [and] a damage estimate is not yet available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the fire marshal at the Punxsutawney barracks at 814-938-0536.
