NEW WILMINGTON — Sophomore Michael Spencer (Clearfield) won the 50-yard freestyle and helped two relay foursomes post victories as Westminster (2-1) defeated The College of Wooster (Ohio) 193-100 in Westminster Natatorium Saturday.
He touched the wall in 21.96 seconds for his individual win and stopped the clock at 1:27.61 for the 200 freestyle quartet’s win with a 21.07-second anchor leg.
Spencer turned in a 23.75 third leg for the Titan’s 200 medley foursome that triumphed in 1:39.48.

WRESTLING
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Senior 165-pounder Nolan Barger (Clearfield) went undefeated and freshman 197-pounder Travis Ogden (Clearfield) lost only one bout as No. 9-ranked Lycoming won three of four matches at the John Carroll Duals in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center Sunday.
Barger, ranked No. 2 in the nation in the preseason after his second third-place finish in as many years at the NCAA Division III Tournament, won by forfeit in the Warriors’ 40-15 victory over Adrian (Mich.), pinned Daniel Kruzel at 3:44 in the 48-6 rout of Lourdes (Ohio), tech falled Donny Didion 16-0 in the 13-30 loss to Otterbein (Ohio) and decisioned Jimmy Suhayda 3-1 in the 24-11 win over John Carroll.
The technical fall was the 12th of his career, tying him for second place on Lycoming’s all-time list behind teammate Seth Lansberry’s 14.
Ogden continued his fine start with a forfeit against Adrian, a 17-1 tech fall over Lourdes’ Benjamin Higgins and a 5:08 fall against John Carroll’s John Szep that broke a 12-12 tie. His loss was 9-2 to Otterbein’s Drew Kasper.
Barger is 8-1 and Ogden is 6-3.

FOOTBALL
BEAVER FALLS — Junior strong safety Austin Jacobson (Curwensville) logged two solo tackles and assisted on another for a two-yard loss for Geneva in a season-ending 24-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference loss to Westminster at Reeves Field Saturday.
A Senior Day crowd of 4,487 was on hand to honor 18 Golden Tornadoes in their final game.
Jacobson, who earned a starting role for Geneva’s second game, was fifth in solo stops with 25 and tied for sixth in total tackles with 41. He was in on 3.5 tackles for losses of five yards.
In the secondary, the 6-0, 195-pounder had one interception and broke up three passes.
The defense held five opponents to 17 points or less, two in losses by one and two points that cost the Golden Tornadoes a .500 record. They were 3-7 with a 2-6 PAC record.

GROVE CITY — Sophomore linebacker Dusty Maines (Clearfield) had one solo tackle in Thiel’s thrilling 47-41 victory over Grove City in the Mercer County Cup game that attracted 3,600 fans to Robert E. Thorn Field Saturday.
The Tomcats scored the winning touchdown with 3:09 remaining after the Wolverines had wiped out a 41-20 deficit to close 3-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference and 4-6 overall.
Maines appeared in six games with six solo tackles and six assists.

SELINSGROVE — Junior left guard Jon Janocko (Clearfield) and the Juniata offense earned the edge in time of possession and generated 498 total yards and five touchdowns, but host Susquehanna had much more firepower and won the annual Goalpost Game 63-34 in front of 3,800 fans at Stagg Field Saturday.
Janocko started nine games for the Eagles, who finished 4-6 with a 3-6 record in the Centennial Conference.

WILLIAMSPORT — Junior center Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) and the Lycoming offense found it rough going against once-beaten and No. 23-ranked Stevenson at David Person Field Saturday as the visitors wrapped up the Middle Atlantic Conference championship with a 28-10 win to disappoint most of the 1,065 fans.
Stubbs started every game as the Warriors finished 2-7 in the MAC and 3-7 overall.
Sophomore linebacker Nick Kovalick (Clearfield) was limited to five appearances before being sidelined by injury.
He made 19 solo tackles, one resulting in a safety, and had nine assists with 4.5 tackles for losses of 15 yards.
Kovalick also forced one fumble.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Sophomore punter/placekicker Spencer Herrington (Clearfield) appeared in four games and booted one extra point in for Worcester Polytechnic Institute this season.
The Enginners lost 28-21 to No. 25-ranked St. Lawrence Saturday to finish 6-4 with a 3-4 Liberty League record.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
LORETTO — Sophomore forward/midfielder Heather Thorp (Curwensville) wound up with six appearances in her rookie season for Northeast Conference champion St. Francis, which was shut out, 2-0, by Georgetown Sunday afternoon at Washington, D.C., in the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament.
The Hoyas (17-2-3) were ranked No. 5 in both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer America polls after winning the Big East Conference title.
The Red Flash finished 10-12 after winning eight of 10 games against NEC opponents, including a pair of 2-0 victories in the conference championships.

ERIE — Junior midfielder McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield) scored three goals and sophomore midfielder Tessa Munshower (Clearfield) had one goal and one assist for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion Penn State Behrend, which finished 16-5 when No. 4-ranked Thomas More won their NCAA Division III Tournament opener 3-1 at Crestview, Ky., Friday.
The Presidents’ Athletic Conference champion Saints followed up with a 1-0 win over Lynchburg Saturday and will take a 22-0-1 record into the third round.
Aleksivich registered eight shots, six on goal, in eight games, while Munshower logged 12 shots, four on goal, in 12 games for the Lions, who had swept through the AMCC regular season with 10 wins before annexing their sixth title in a row with a pair of one-sided victories.
Aleksivich has four goals in 41 career games, including two starts.
Munshower has two goals and three assists in 29 games.
