Theresa M. Martha, 86, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at Windy Hill Village PSL, Philipsburg.
Born Aug. 8, 1930 in Throop, Pa., she was the daughter of Andrew George “James” and Charlotte (Brucher) Solava.
She was a 1948 graduate of the Philipsburg High School. She had worked at the former McCrory’s 5 & 10 and Charles Navasky Clothing Co.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, and on the trustee committee and the Presbyterian Women’s Auxiliary.
On Aug. 15, 1950 in Winchester, Va., she married John J. Martha, who died Jan. 21, 1985.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Johnson and her husband, Jeffrey of California; a daughter-in-law, Lillian Martha of Texas; five grandchildren, Darcy, Jennifer, Joshua, Marcus and Michael; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Irene Butler of Florida and Jean Frazer of Texas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John L. Martha; two brothers, Lawrence Solava and James Solava; and two sisters, Clara Marin and Frances Botwright.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Kathleen Kelly Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg.
