DUBOIS – DuBois Central Catholic art teacher, Mrs. Caitlin Smith, assists three seniors as they put the finishing touches on their three-foot by five-foot American Flag design on plywood.
The flag was created using in excess of 5,000 plastic infantry men, each hand-painted and glued individually on the flag template.
According to Smith, the white stars alone account for 250 miniatures. Students of Tara Kramer’s seventh and eighth grade social studies sections sanded the wood base.
Kramer’s brother, Christopher Margle, donated the plastic infantry men for the school’s cross-curricular project in celebration of Veterans Day.
