Obituary Notice: Frances K. Borrelli

Frances K. Borrelli, 91, of DuBois died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born May 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Irene (McClusky) Houpt.

On Sept. 25, 1942, she married Joseph Borrella Jr.  He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 2005.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, making fudge and preparing holiday meals.

She also enjoyed playing cards; keeping up on current events in the news; listening to music; watching sit-coms, especially the Golden Girls; and in her younger days going to dances with Joey.

She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She was a faithful Catholic, but admired anyone who had a relationship with God.

She often prayed for others and numerous times, the person would report their “miracle” as a result of her simple faith.

She was also very grateful for any care given to her whether it be helping to keep her clean, giving an awful-tasting medication or a painful treatment she always responded, “thank you dear.”

She also amazed others by her ability to remember a person’s name, details about a conversation they had or details about their family members.  The comment “for 91 years old, your mind is sharp as a tack” was constantly made.

She is survived by three daughters, Sarah Pedulla and her husband, Thomas of DuBois, Jolene Burley and her husband, Joseph of Newberry, Fla., and Lisa Pettrey and her husband, Thomas of Lexington, Ky., and two sons, Michael Borrelli and his wife, Robin and David Borrelli, both of DuBois.

She is survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who is on the way.  She is also survived by her faithful friend, Beryl Kelly.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her only brother, Robert Houpt; a daughter, Jeanne Mullins; and a grandson, Jason Mullins.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
