CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week. He identified the fugitive as Matthew Kennedy, 30, of Fourth Street, Clearfield.
Kennedy is wanted for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing Nov. 2, at which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Sept. 26 Officer Sergio Caltagarone of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Kennedy with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, M; use/possession of drug paraphernalia, M; and public drunkenness, S.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 18 officers were on routine patrol when they went to check on a vehicle. It had been observed in a parking lot for an extended period of time.
When officers approached the vehicle, they observed the operator, later identified as Kennedy, to be asleep in the driver’s seat and an odor of marijuana was allegedly emanating from it.
Further contact with Kennedy revealed that he was under the influence of controlled substances. Additionally, officers were able to observe drug paraphernalia within the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
A preliminary hearing was held Nov. 2, at which time Kennedy failed to appear, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Kennedy is described as a Caucasian male standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall. He has brown hair and green eyes.
