Elizabeth Buynak, 96, of Houtzdale and a guest of Ridgeview Eldercare, Curwensville, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at the home.
Born Aug. 17, 1920 in Atlantic, rural Houtzdale, she was the daughter of Moderst Dufour Jr. and Celine (Finney) Dufour.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
In her early years, she was employed by W.O. Gulbranson. She later retired from Lloyd Manufacturing.
On Sept. 18, 1948 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Houtzdale, she married Albert L Buynak, who preceded her in death July 31, 2010.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald Buynak and his wife, Carolyn of Lawrence, Ky., Raymond Buynak of Smokerun and Mark Buynak of Houtzdale; six grandchildren, Sean Buynak of Bloomfield, Ky., Mican Buynak of Canada, Adraine Luksi, Michelle Buynak and Raymond Buynak Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Krista Buynak of Houtzdale; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Marie Flango of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sisters, Irene Solensky and Shirley Dufour; an infant sister; and two brothers, Modest Dufour III and Alex Dufour.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Zab Amar as celebrant.
The Rosary will be recited by the Altar and Rosary Society at 3 p.m. followed by a vigil prayer service led by Father Marc Solomon at 3:45 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Brisbin.
