In May, Deep Well Services finalized the completion of a 27,048-foot deep “monster” Utica well named Purple Hayes in Guernsey County, Ohio by drilling out the temporary plugs placed at various stages in the horizontal well after it was hydrofractured. The horizontal well spanned 18,500 feet — 3.5 miles – the longest lateral ever drilled onshore.
