Richard D. Seaburn, 74, of Curwensville died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 7, 1942 in Clearfield, he was the son of Lewis Seaburn and Bertha (Reitmyer) Seaburn Vesolosky.
Mr. Seaburn had worked for the New York Central Railroad for five years. He then went to work for Kurtz Brothers Stationary Supply in Clearfield and retired from there after 38 years of service.
He spent 11 years (1948 through 1959) in the Evangelical United Brethren Home in Quincey, Pa. He had served in the U.S. Army for three years as a medic and two years in the National Guard.
He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed NASCAR, reading and loved summer and working in the yard. He loved his family most of all and being “Pappy” to his granddaughters.
He wed the former Janet Binlein on May 4, 1979 in Clearfield and who survives, along with a daughter, Melissa Crittenden and her husband, Craig of Curwensville and two granddaughters, Emma and Tessa Crittenden.
Also surviving are a brother, Lewis Seaburn of Colorado Springs, Colo., and three sisters, Julia Shaffer and her husband, Lester of Clearfield, Jane Hoover and her husband, Richard of Curwensville and Barbara Seaburn of Lynchburg, Va., as well as numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Charles Vesolosky; a son, Todd Seaburn; two sisters, Geraldine Condon and Anne Briskar; three brothers, Thomas, Fred and Donald Seaburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. George Solley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
