CLEARFIELD – Lock Haven University Clearfield Campus Director William Curley (left) met with keynote speaker (center), James Godlewski Ed.D, and Penn State Extension Better Kid Care Educator (right), Jacqueline Amor-Zitzelberger, to discuss the upcoming annual Building Blocks to Early Learning professional development event being held on the campus Nov. 5.

Godlewski has worked for more than 35 years in Pennsylvania public school system as a teacher and school administrator. He was an elementary principal for 15 years and helped to implement full-day kindergarten into the districts that he worked.

He was the school district’s liaison to Head Start and interviewed by the U.S. Department of Education on the importance of early learning programs and Head Start.

His presentation, will focus on “what is school readiness for early learning; why it is important; current trends for early learning; characteristics of school readiness for early learning in schools; hidden dangers of pre-school; developmentally appropriate practices in early learning; qualities of an early learning teacher; and ideas and checklists for parents to get their child school ready.”

Lock Haven University-Clearfield Campus, along with the Northwest Regional Key, are sponsoring the event for child care providers in Clearfield and surrounding counties.
