Local Police Remind Clearfield Students to Buckle Up

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough police, along with an officer from the Lawrence Township police, teamed up at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School on Monday at dismissal to remind students to buckle up.

During the event, students were provided literature about the law, and police thanked them for buckling up.

Clearfield Borough police are one of approximately 100 law enforcement agencies that are participating in a teen seatbelt mobilization that is taking place through Oct. 28.

During that time, officers for Clearfield Borough will be targeting teens who are not properly restrained as drivers or passengers under 18 years of age.

According to statistics from 2010 to 2015, there were 108,608 crashes involving at least one 16- to 19-year-old driver in Pennsylvania, and 806 of them were fatalities.

Further, 127,337 crashes occurred in Pennsylvania in 2015 that resulted in 1,200 fatalities.
